SunGazers Fox Character

A 3D model of Ethan McKenna's (https://www.artstation.com/ethanmck) fox character for his game SunGazers.

This was a self-directed project for university. Since it is a stylised games character, there were a lot of unfamiliar variables for me. It was different from what I was used to but an exciting challenge! I was very eager to try bring Ethan's character into 3D since I admire his work and IP.

I blocked out and sculpted the character in Zbrush, retopologised and UVed in Maya, took it to Substance Painter to bake and texture, checked it in Unreal Engine, back into Maya to rig and pose, then finally back into Unreal Engine. I also took it into Mixamo to add a little idle to her.

This was my first time rigging a character, and it's pretty roughly done, but it is nice to see her out of A pose. It was very exciting to see her moving and breathing slightly too.

Overall I think it could use with more polish and optimisation but it was a good learning experience and a step outside my comfort zone, which is always rewarding.

The environment used is the Advance Village Pack from the UE Marketplace:
