1997 Honda Civic GLi Hatchback

A model of my partner's much-loved 1997 Honda Civic GLi Hatchback.

This was the first actual vehicle I have modelled (I also did the texturing, lighting and render), and was definitely a journey. I used orthographic views of a similar model to slowly build the body then tweaked aspects to better match my original reference.

The tyres (RE003s) play a part in the vehicle's character so I wanted to match them with reference. That said, the tyre tread's topology is quite dense and messy so I should have found a way to do it in texture or displacement.

I am hoping to go back to add some interior because I think the blacked out windows let it down. There's also some interior details I'd like to add to make it a more fun looking model! Other than that, I want to also give the head and tail lights some more attention and maybe tweak some of the topology. I would also like to push in some of the dents to be more visible (my favourite is the roof dent from being sat on!)

Overall, I am quite proud that I was able to get the model to where it is currently. I am happy to have a little momento of the car too in case it ever stops chugging along...
